Oral Medicine is an area within the field of dentistry that is specifically concerned with diseases involving oral and paraoral structures. It covers medical / medical principles related to mouth and research in the fields of biology, pathology and clinics. Oral Medicine also includes the diagnosis and management of medical orofacial tissue specific diseases and manifestations of systemic disease. The scope of Oral Medicine is related to four main areas, namely oral mucosal disease, orofacial region disease or abnormality, salivary gland and orophacic pain.

The department of Oral Medicine has learning objectives that is to equip students with a knowledge and understanding of the disease of the oral mucosa, pathogenesis, prevention (if possible), diagnosis (including relevant investigations and treatment / treatment, allowing students to distinguish something abnormal from normal, and Allows students to understand the relationship between oral and systemic diseases

In this department students are able to work on the cases required in the field of oral medicine. The required cases are RAS (Reccurence Apthous Stomatitis), angular cheilitis, traumatic ulcer, normal variation in the mouth, candidiasis. Students are also expected to be able to understand scientific writing methods as a basic understanding to find and solve dental and oral health problems based on scientific studies.
