In order to realize FKG UH as a center for human development, science and technology and culture that excels in the field of dentistry. The Dentist Education Study Program strives to continuously improve the quality of learning and be responsive to changes and developments in quality, professional and responsible dental science and technology in accordance with the goals of maritime scholars. Implement and disseminate dentistry for the benefit of society.
The Dentistry Education Study Program consists of 2 stages, namely the academic and professional stages. The professional stage is a continuation of the academic stage. Admission of professional students is carried out at each academic stage of the judicial period. Student activities at the professional stage begin with the 2-week PROFESSIONAL STUDENT ADMISSION ORIENTATION program. Furthermore, students will undergo clerical activities for 4 semesters in 9 departments, namely 8 clinic-based departments and 1 community-based department (IKGM).
The competencies that must be achieved by professional students are in accordance with the SKDGI which is described in the curriculum for the professional stages, by carrying out the One Visit Department (OVD) program. Clinical learning activities at the stage of the Dentist profession are supported by the quality of the Unhas RSGMP which is adequate and fully accredited. Professional student activities are guided directly by experienced professionals with qualifications of 20 professors, 54 Doctors or Sp-2 equivalent and 34 Masters or Sp-1 equivalents to produce dentists who are competent and have quality, professionalism and responsibility. .
Quality assurance in the Dentistry Education Study Program is carried out periodically, including a monitoring and evaluation process that assesses the educational process and facilities available by GPM every semester.
Students who have completed the stages of a series of educational activities will take part in the UKP2DG Student Competency Test for the Dentist Profession Program
Dentist education program begins with a meeting between drg. Liem Tjing Kiat and drg. Halima Dg. Sikati from the Indonesian Navy’s Institute of Dentistry and the Chancellor of Hasanuddin University, Lt. Col. M. Nasir, SH to discuss the possibility of opening a Dental Education at Hasanuddin University in 1968.
The signing of the cooperation between Hasanuddin University and the TNI-AL was carried out in January 1969. Based on the Decree of the Chancellor of Hasanuddin University on January 1, 1969, the Dental Institute became the Department of Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine, Hasanuddin University and the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 0226/1970 dated 27 July 1970. Based on the Chancellor’s Decree No. 91/0/02/83 dated 22 February 1983 and the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture No. 0563 dated 8 December 1983.

The objectives of the Faculty of Dentistry, Hasanuddin University are formulated based on the following vision and mission:
Able to choose appropriate technology to be used in enhancing proper and low-cost health services
Able to improve a healthy lifestyle with effective counseling and appropriate advice in the context of culture and economy, thus the health of individuals and groups will be improved and maintained.
Able to know the health needs of individuals and groups so that they can play a role in motivating the community to participate in improving the dental and oral health of the community
Able to work effectively and harmoniously with other people both inside and outside the health care system organization to find out the aspects needed by patients and the community.
Able to act as professional educators and scientists, who are always able todevelop themselves according to scientific and technological progress in an effective manner through the addition of knowledge and research
Have sensitivity to health needs in the environment and have creativity and innovation to make changes and solutions to improve the level of public health
