In order to prepare for the opening of the Orthodontic Specialist Study Program, the Faculty of Dentistry Unhas received a visit from the Indonesian Medical Council (KKI). Thursday (04/07), the KKI delegation was accepted by the leadership of Hasanuddin University, represented by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Muh. Restu, MP.
Also present at the meeting, Director of Communication, Ir. Suharman Hamzah, Ph.D, Dean of Faculty of Dentistry Unhas, drg. Muhammad Ruslin, M.Kes, Ph.D, Sp.BM (K), Unhas MWA Member Prof. Dr. drg. Bahruddin Thalib, M.Kes., Sp.Pros (K), Deputy Dean of Planning, Finance and Resources Dr. drg. Nurlinda Hamrun, M. Kes., Deputy Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs, and Orthodontic KPS Dr. drg. Eddy Heriyanto Habar, Sp.Ort (K), Chair of the Orthodontics Department Dr. drg. Eka Erwansyah, Sp.Orto (K), as well as several orthodontics specialists from the Unhas Dentistry Faculty.
Chairperson of the Department of Orthodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry Unhas, drg. Eka Erwansyah explained that KKI will later issue a letter of recommendation regarding the feasibility of opening the Orthodontics Specialist Study Program. This recommendation will be used to apply for minimum accreditation to the Independent Higher Education Accreditation Institution (LAM-PT Kes).
The KKI delegation consisted of Prof. drg. Armasastra Bahar, Ph.D., and drg. Yulianti Kemal, Sp. Perio (K) (both from the University of Indonesia) and drg. Grace Virginia Gumuru, Sp.KG., MM., (Padjadjaran University).
Prof. Armasastra provides a note regarding the commitment of the Chancellor to help continuity in fulfilling human resources and financial support for the continuity of this Orthodontic Specialist Study Program. He emphasized that university support and commitment have important values in every plan to open a new specialist study program.
In response to this, the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs stated that Unhas has full commitment. This is one of the Chancellor’s work programs to add potential study programs, especially in postgraduate programs, ranging from specialists to doctorates.
“FKG has the potential to form an Orthodontic Specialist study program. So, of course Unhas is very enthusiastic to welcome this step. Moreover, this study program has basically been prepared for a long time, “said Prof. Approval.
Before visiting the Unhas Rectorate, the KKI team had first visited the Faculty of Dentistry in the framework of the Visitation Visitation for the Orthodontist Specialist Dentist Education Study Program which was received directly by the Dean of FKG Unhas drg. Muhammad Ruslin, M.Kes., Ph.D., Sp.BM (K). Also attending the opening ceremony was the Chairperson of the Faculty Senate, the Professors of the FKG Unhas, the deputy deans, the Director and Deputy director of the Unhas RSGM, the Chair and Secretary of the GPM, the Heads of Departments, the KPS and the entire staff of the Orthodontics Department.
“This activity is part of the commitment of FKG Unhas to support the University Leadership program in developing Study Programs that have the potential and fulfillment of community needs, in addition to Orthodontic PPDGS, we are now preparing PPDGS Child Dentistry and PPDGS Mouth Disease as well as the Secondary Study Program which is currently awaiting discussion in the university academic senate, “continued the Dean of the FKG Unhas.
The visitation activity also reviews the training and education and service systems at the Unhas Education Center’s Dental Center and Unhas RSGM as an educational vehicle for the FKG Unhas PPDGS, which will last until July 5, 2019.
