Fourteen (14) students from Okayama University, Japan visited the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) Hasanuddin University (Unhas). The arrival of the group of students from Okayama University was in the context of Student Exchange 2023 with students from Hasanuddin University.

The activity took place in the FKG Unhas Senate Room, September 5 2023.

The 2023 student exchange was attended by 14 students from Okayama University from the Faculty of Nursing, Radiation Technology and Health Technology.

Meanwhile, Unhas was attended by 17 students from various faculties in the Health sector, including 9 students from the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) Unhas, 2 students from the Faculty of Medicine (FK), and 6 students from the Faculty of Public Health (FKM) Unhas.

The activity was officially opened by the Dean of FKG Unhas, drg. Irfan Sugianto, M.Med.Ed., Ph.D. In his speech, he welcomed the group from Okayama University, Japan.

The group of students from Japan was accompanied by 3 professors, including Prof. Kuroda Masahiro, MD, Ph.D., Associate Prof. Kataoka Takahiro, Ph.D. and Associate Prof. Oita Masataka, Ph.D.

The Dean of FKG Unhas also explained that the aim of this program is to exchange information and insight so that students can understand each other's cultural differences, lifestyle and educational backgrounds from the two countries.

"Hopefully the activities which will take place over the next 2 days will run smoothly and further strengthen the collaboration between Unhas and Okayama University," he hoped.

The next speech came from Prof. Kuroda Masahiro. In his speech he thanked the dean of FKG Unhas who had prepared this activity.

He also expressed his appreciation to all the tutors and participants so that this activity could run well. His hope is that he is looking forward to a return visit from Unhas to Japan.

This program has been divided into 8 (eight) groups consisting of 4 (four) to 5 (five) combined students from 2 (two) universities.

Before visiting Indonesia, every Tuesday Unhas students and Okayama University students held virtual meetings from April 11 2023 to July 25 2023.

Each meeting discusses different topics and at the end of the meeting they prepare a project that they will present during the final presentation at Hasanuddin University.

In this activity, apart from presentations from each group as the final project, students and lecturers from Okayama University were also invited to visit FKM Unhas, RSP Unhas, and the Unhas Rectorate Building.

At RSP Unhas students were shown the services available at the hospital, including the facilities available.

At the Rectorate, students and lecturers met and discussed directly with the Chancellor of Unhas (Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc.) and the Deputy Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs (Prof. drg. Muhammad Ruslin, M.Kes., Ph. D, Sp.BM(K).

Activities will run smoothly until September 6 2023.
